eFusion Revolutionizes Internet Radio by Enabling Listeners to Call On-air
Hosts Directly from the Station's Web site - All While Staying Connected to
the Internet
BEAVERTON, Ore., Sept. 26 /PRNewswire/ --
eFusion Inc., provider of online voice communication services, announced today that News Talk 89 WLS Chicago has joined News Talk 750 KXL Portland in adopting eFusion's Push to Talk (PtT)(TM) service, enabling the talk radio station's Web-based audience to contact the station through a phone call initiated from their Web site, www.wlsam.com.
Using the Push to Talk button on the WLS Web site, listeners can now interact with talk show hosts or leave comments for station management without having to disconnect from the Internet. This new channel of communication will improve audience loyalty and increase the geographic reach of WLS in a way that was once impossible.
"As more and more radio stations are establishing an online presence, they're facing new challenges. People can enjoy our content online, but they haven't been able to participate easily in real-time as they are accustomed to with stations in their local area," says Mike Elder, WLS Station Manager. "Push to Talk lets listeners from anywhere communicate with us -- bringing the audience and the hosts together. It also enhances communication between our sales reps and our advertising customers."
To use Push to Talk, callers simply push a button on the WLS Web site, where they're given the option to make a call over the Internet using VoIP or have the call connected over traditional phone lines. The same technology also adds another channel of communication between WLS' advertising customers and their sales representatives. Push to Talk buttons can be embedded in e- mails, presented as easy-to-use links on corporate contact directories, and even offered as immediate contact options in banner ads, giving consumers and advertisers better access to a station's sales team.
"eFusion's Push to Talk can be used anywhere that supports Web links, and whenever it makes sense to establish one-to-one voice communication between terrestrial and Web-based audiences," says Luis Machuca, eFusion's president. "Traditionally, radio has been an extremely regional business; but now that stations are embracing the borderless Internet, they need a way to connect to their entire audience. Push to Talk is the perfect solution."
