MEXICO CITY, Jun 03, 2004 (Notimex/Corporate Mexico by Internet Securities, Inc. via COMTEX) -- Of the new jobs generated in the country, some 70% are created in small and medium-sized enterprises (SME), reported Sergio Alejandro Garcia de Alba Zepeda, undersecretary of SMEs at the Secretariat of Economy (SE).
"Employment is one of the first requests of the public and the federal government is working on that. The achievements have been reached mainly with small firms and we expect it to reach other labor sectors," commented Garcia de Alba Zepeda. He added that the increase in the number of jobs is a reflection of the expectations of growth in the country.
Garcia de Alba Zepeda said that there was a great need to implement the structural reforms as had been done in other countries to boost growth and development to levels of up to 10%. He pointed out that the government would channel up to 20 billion pesos (US$1.75 billion) this year to the support of 200,000 producers and entrepreneuers in the country to improve products and promote exports.
