Two highly touted downtown projects -- one in the planning stages for more than a decade -- are appearing before the city's planning, zoning and historic resources boards, and the developers of both say they will break ground before the summer is over.
Omni Development Co. is seeking approval to build a 10-story Hampton Inn & Suites Hotel on a Chapel Street parking lot between Sheridan Avenue and Monroe Street. The $16 million project first was proposed last June. The 143-room limited-services hotel will not feature a restaurant, but it will sit atop a 170-space garage.
