SA: House explosion suspicious, police say
ADELAIDE, Dec 25 AAP - A blast which destroyed an Adelaide house this morning was probably
caused by the vapours from a flammable liquid exploding, police said.
Police are treating the explosion which completely gutted the house in the southern suburb
of Marino as suspicious and have appealed for public assistance.
A police spokesman said a small red car was seen leaving the property about 3.40am shortly
before the explosion which caused about $200,000 worth of damage.
"We are asking if anyone does know anyone who has been injured as a result of this, either
with slight burn marks or burns to themselves," he said.
But he said no one was in the house at the time of the blast with family members believed
to be either out of the state or at work.
"The house has been totally destroyed, totally destroyed, even the foundations are
damaged," the police spokesman said.
State Emergency Service and Metropolitan Fire Service crews are now rendering the site
safe.
