TROY - The ValleyCats held Oneonta to just three runs in Thursday's doubleheader, so the first-place Tigers were due for a breakout game.

They delivered.

The Tigers mauled Tri-City 14-2 before a fireworks night crowd of 5,184 - the fifth-largest in franchise history - at Joseph L. Bruno Stadium.

The loss eliminated the ValleyCats from the playoff race.

Jeramy Laster and Matt Joyce each hit three-run homers to lead Oneonta's 11-hit attack in the fourth of a five-game New York-Penn League series. Ryan Roberson went 3-for-5 and added three RBI. …
