SCHENECTADY -- The predawn drug raid had the complexity of a major military operation. The mayor flew overhead in a Blackhawk helicopter as a hundred agents fanned out into city streets.
The results: about a dozen suspected drug dealers behind bars and a small amount of drugs seized.
The day began at 4:30 a.m. at the Stratton Air National Guard Base in Glenville, where more than 100 law enforcement officers gathered before spreading out in teams to attempt to locate 28 suspects.
Before it was over, police had arrested 14 of them on warrants. No weapons or cash and only a small quantity of drugs were seized. …
