Vic: Govt sets up syringe hotline to clean up Victoria s streets

Victorians will be able to call a free hotline for advice about safely disposing discarded
syringes from tomorrow.

Health Minister JOHN THWAITES admits there is not one proven case of HIV acquired from
a discarded syringe needle.

But he says thousands of needles are littering suburban streets and there's a need
to reduce the risk of injury and infection.

The problem was highlighted a year ago …
