Hours: Open at 11 a.m. daily. Exhibit buildings close at 10p.m. daily. The Commercial Building closes at 10 p.m. Sunday throughThursday and at 11 p.m. Friday and Saturday. The carnival opens atnoon daily.
Location: The fair is held at Seaside Park, Harbor Boulevardand Figueroa Street in Ventura. Northbound on the Ventura Freeway(101), take California Street or San Jon Road exit. Southbound onthe freeway, take Main Street or San Jon exit.
Admission: Adults, ages 13-54, $6; juniors, ages 6-12, $3;children, ages 0-5, free; seniors, ages 55-99, $3; super seniors, 100years or older, free with identification. On-site parking, $5.
Parking: On-site parking accommodates about 2,000 vehicles.Cost is $5. Free off-site parking, served by free shuttles that runevery 30 minutes, is available at lots E and F at the Ventura CountyGovernment Center off Telephone Road, the Buenaventura Mall andVentura High School off Poli Street. Parking with shuttle service isavailable at San Buenaventura State Beach for $5. Metrolink trainservice is available on weekends from Simi Valley, Moorpark,Camarillo and Oxnard.
Exhibits: Competitive entries in the following areas will be ondisplay: agriculture, amateur fine arts, creative living, fishes andfriends, floriculture, gems and minerals, hobbies, models andcollections, horse shows, large livestock, photography, professionalarts, small livestock, youth and 4-H Club divisions.TODAY'S SPECIAL EVENTS All Alaskan Racing Pigs: Races at Porker Flats are scheduled at1:30, 3, 4:30 and 6 p.m.
Horse Shows: Beginning at 8:30 a.m. at the Morgan Arena,Andalusian Horse, Icelandic Pony, Mule and Welsh Pony Shows. A speedracking exhibition is scheduled for 7 p.m.
Dairy Foods: Ice cream making will be featured at 2 p.m. andthe milk challenge at 6 p.m. at the Agriculture building.
Floriculture: Questions about Roses will be answered at 1 p.m.by Sue Diller at the Floriculture Department.
Children's Dell: The stage offers jugglers, puppeteers,storytellers, clowns and other children's entertainment.
Gull Wings Museum: the Oxnard museum will coordinate activitiesfor preschoolers daily from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Youth Building.
Limbo, Hula Hoop & Scarf Juggling Contests: The contests beginat 1:30 p.m. on the Pepsi Community Stage. Entry fee is $1.
Dannon Yogurt: The creative cooking contest runs from 5:30 to 7p.m. at the Creative Living Kitchen.
Adult Showmanship: Parents and leaders of 4-H and FutureFarmers of America exhibitors try their hands at controllinglivestock. Entry fee: $2.GRANDSTAND ENTERTAINMENT SCHEDULE Today, 7:30 p.m. Smokey Robinson.
